Genesis 25:1-18

25:1

Now Abraham took a wife again,
And her name was Keturah (Perfumed);

25:2

And she bore to him

Zimran (musician)

and Yoqshan (fowler),

And Medan (judgmentalist),

and Midian (controversialist);

And Yisbak (he will forsake),

And Shuach (pit);

25:3

And Yoqshan begat Sheba and Dedan,
(named after eponymos Hamitic heros
in 10:7
);

And the sons of Dedan, they became
blessed and sharp tribes, and nations;

25:4

And the sons of Midian:

Eiphah (darkness) and Epher (fawn),

and Hanoch (Enoch consecrated trainer),

and Avidah (my father acknowledged),

and Elda’ah (God has invited).

All these were the sons/grandsons of Keturah;

25:5

But Abraham handed all of that which he had,
to Isaac.

25:6

And to the sons of Abraham’s adjunct wives,

Abraham had given gifts;

And he sent them away, while he was still alive,
away from his son Isaac,

eastwards, to the east country.

25:7

Now these are
the days of the years of Abraham’s lifespan,
which he had lived:

One hundred years, and seventy years,
and five years;

25:8

And he breathed his last and died
at a good advanced age,
old and satisfied;

And he was gathered to his people;

25:9

Then they buried him, Isaac and Ishmael, his sons,

inside the Cave of Machpelah (the Doubling),

inside the field of the son of Zochar the Hittite,

that which faces Mamre,

25:10

The field that Abraham had bought
from the sons of Heth;

Thither had Abraham been buried,
together with Sarah his wife.

25:11

Now it came to pass, after the death of Abraham,

That God blessed Isaac his son.

And he dwelt close to Be’er Lachai Ro’i
(The Well of The Living One Who Sees).

25:12

Now these are the successive generations of Ishmael,
the son of Abraham;

He whom she had borne, — Hagar the Egyptian
— the maid of Sarah,— to Abraham:

25:13

And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael,
by their names according to their birth order:

The firstborn of Ishmael, — Nevayot (heights),

and then Kedar (dark) and Adbe’el (God invites),

and (balsam),

25:14

And Mishma (hearing)
and Dumah (silence, angel of death),

And Massa (burden, oracle),

25:15

Chadad (sharp) and Teima (southern),

Jetur (supporting wall, palace, he will set in order),
Naphish (individual, refreshing),

And Keidmah (to the opposite, to the east);

25:16

These were they, the sons of Ishmael,
and these were their names,

By their settlements
and by their protected encampments;

Twelve sheikhs of their own tribes.

25:17

And these are the years of the lifetime of Ishmael,

One hundred years, and thirty years, seven years;

And he breathed his last and died,
and he was gathered to his people;

25:18

And they dwelt from Havilah,
down to Shur,

that place which faces Egypt,
as you go towards Assyria;

He had fallen, —facing all his brothers.
