5:1
זֶ֣ה סֵ֔פֶר תֹּולְדֹ֖ת אָדָ֑ם
This is the record
of the descendants of Adam (mankind-man-Adam/reddish-brown).
בְּיֹ֗ום בְּרֹ֤א אֱלֹהִים֙ אָדָ֔ם
On the day when God created Adam,
בִּדְמ֥וּת אֱלֹהִ֖ים עָשָׂ֥ה אֹתֹֽו׃
He made him in the likeness of God;
5:2
זָכָ֥ר וּנְקֵבָ֖ה בְּרָאָ֑ם
He had created them as male and female;
וַיְבָ֣רֶךְ אֹתָ֗ם
וַיִּקְרָ֤א אֶת־שְׁמָם֙ אָדָ֔ם
And He blessed them,
And He named them Mankind/Man,
בְּיֹ֖ום הִבָּֽרְאָֽם׃ ס
in the day they were created.
5:3
וַֽיְחִ֣י אָדָ֗ם שְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים וּמְאַת֙ שָׁנָ֔ה
And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years,
וַיֹּ֥ולֶד בִּדְמוּתֹ֖ו כְּצַלְמֹ֑ו
and he begat one in his own likeness,
according to his own semblance,
וַיִּקְרָ֥א אֶת־שְׁמֹ֖ו שֵֽׁת׃
And he called his name Seth (base/foundation);
5:4
וַיִּֽהְי֣וּ יְמֵי־אָדָ֗ם אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הֹולִידֹ֣ו אֶת־שֵׁ֔ת
And the days of Adam, after his begetting Seth,
שְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵאֹ֖ת שָׁנָ֑ה
were eight hundred years;
וַיֹּ֥ולֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֹֽות׃
And he begat sons and daughters;
5:5
וַיִּֽהְי֞וּ כָּל־יְמֵ֤י אָדָם֙ אֲשֶׁר־חַ֔י
So all the days of Adam
that he had lived,
תְּשַׁ֤ע מֵאֹות֙ שָׁנָ֔ה
וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים שָׁנָ֑ה
were nine hundred and thirty years;
וַיָּמֹֽת׃ ס
And he died;
5:6-8
וַֽיְחִי־שֵׁ֕ת חָמֵ֥שׁ שָׁנִ֖ים וּמְאַ֣ת שָׁנָ֑ה
And Seth lived one hundred and five years,
וַיֹּ֖ולֶד אֶת־אֱנֹֽושׁ׃
And he begat Enosh (mortal man);
וַֽיְחִי־שֵׁ֗ת אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הֹולִידֹ֣ו אֶת־אֱנֹ֔ושׁ
And Seth lived, after his begetting Enosh,
שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֔ים וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵאֹ֖ות שָׁנָ֑ה
eight hundred and seven years;
וַיֹּ֥ולֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֹֽות׃
And he begat sons and daughters;
וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙ כָּל־יְמֵי־שֵׁ֔ת
So all the days of Seth were
שְׁתֵּ֤ים עֶשְׂרֵה֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וּתְשַׁ֥ע מֵאֹ֖ות שָׁנָ֑ה
nine hundred and twelve years:
וַיָּמֹֽת׃ ס
And he died;
5:9-11
וַֽיְחִ֥י אֱנֹ֖ושׁ תִּשְׁעִ֣ים שָׁנָ֑ה
And Enosh lived ninety years;
וַיֹּ֖ולֶד אֶת־קֵינָֽן׃
And he begat Keinan (silver and gold smith);
וַֽיְחִ֣י אֱנֹ֗ושׁ אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הֹולִידֹ֣ו אֶת־קֵינָ֔ן
And Enosh lived, after his begetting Keinan,
חֲמֵ֤שׁ עֶשְׂרֵה֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵאֹ֖ות שָׁנָ֑ה
eight hundred and fifteen years,
וַיֹּ֥ולֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֹֽות׃
And he begat sons and daughters;
וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙ כָּל־יְמֵ֣י אֱנֹ֔ושׁ
So all the days of Enosh were
חָמֵ֣שׁ שָׁנִ֔ים וּתְשַׁ֥ע מֵאֹ֖ות שָׁנָ֑ה
nine hundred and five years;
וַיָּמֹֽת׃ ס
And he died.
5:12-14
וַֽיְחִ֥י קֵינָ֖ן שִׁבְעִ֣ים שָׁנָ֑ה
And Keinan lived seventy years;
וַיֹּ֖ולֶד אֶת־מַֽהֲלַלְאֵֽל׃
And he begat Mahalal-El (Praise of God);
וַיְחִ֣י קֵינָ֗ן אַחֲרֵי֙ הֹולִידֹ֣ו אֶת־מַֽהֲלַלְאֵ֔ל
And Keinan lived, after his begetting Mahalal-El,
אַרְבָּעִ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה
וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵאֹ֖ות שָׁנָ֑ה
eight hundred and forty years;
וַיֹּ֥ולֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֹֽות׃
And he begat sons and daughters;
וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙ כָּל־יְמֵ֣י קֵינָ֔ן
עֶ֣שֶׂר שָׁנִ֔ים וּתְשַׁ֥ע מֵאֹ֖ות שָׁנָ֑ה
So all the days of Keinan were
nine hundred and ten years;
וַיָּמֹֽת׃ ס
And he died.
5:15-17
וַֽיְחִ֣י מַֽהֲלַלְאֵ֔ל
חָמֵ֥שׁ שָׁנִ֖ים וְשִׁשִּׁ֣ים שָׁנָ֑ה
And Mahalal-El lived sixty five years;
וַיֹּ֖ולֶד אֶת־יָֽרֶד׃
And he begat Jered (Descent);
וַֽיְחִ֣י מַֽהֲלַלְאֵ֗ל אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הֹולִידֹ֣ו אֶת־יֶ֔רֶד
And Mahalal-El lived, after his begetting Jered,
שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה
וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵאֹ֖ות שָׁנָ֑ה
eight hundred and thirty years;
וַיֹּ֥ולֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֹֽות׃
And he begat sons and daughters;
וַיִּהְיוּ֙ כָּל־יְמֵ֣י מַהֲלַלְאֵ֔ל
So all the days of Mahalal-El were
חָמֵ֤שׁ וְתִשְׁעִים֙ שָׁנָ֔ה
וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵאֹ֖ות שָׁנָ֑ה
eight hundred and ninety five years;
וַיָּמֹֽת׃ ס
And he died;
5:18-20
וַֽיְחִי־יֶ֕רֶד
שְׁתַּ֧יִם וְשִׁשִּׁ֛ים שָׁנָ֖ה וּמְאַ֣ת שָׁנָ֑ה
And Jered lived one hundred and sixty two years;
וַיֹּ֖ולֶד אֶת־חֲנֹֽוךְ׃
And he begat Enoch (train up, dedicate);
וַֽיְחִי־יֶ֗רֶד אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הֹולִידֹ֣ו אֶת־חֲנֹ֔וךְ
שְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵאֹ֖ות שָׁנָ֑ה
And Jered lived, after his begetting Enoch, eight hundred years;
וַיֹּ֥ולֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֹֽות׃
And he begat sons and daughters;
וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙ כָּל־יְמֵי־יֶ֔רֶד
So all the days of Jered were
שְׁתַּ֤יִם וְשִׁשִּׁים֙ שָׁנָ֔ה
וּתְשַׁ֥ע מֵאֹ֖ות שָׁנָ֑ה
nine hundred and sixty two years;
וַיָּמֹֽת׃פ
And he died.
