Genesis 9:18-29

9:18-19

And the sons of Noah,

they were gone from the ark,

Shem, Ham and Jephet;

— And Ham, he, the father of Canaan! —

These three sons of Noah;

And from these the whole earth had spread out.

9:20-21

And Noah,—the man of the soil—, became violated;

And he planted a vineyard;

And he drank of the wine, and became drunk;

And he was uncovered in the midst of his tent;

9:22

And Ham, the father of Canaan,
he saw  the nakedness of his father;

And he gave details to both his brothers outdoors;

9:23

And Shem and Jephet took the garment;

and set it upon a shoulder of both of them;

And they walked backwards

and they covered the nakedness of their father;

And their faces were backwards

And the nakedness of their father they had not seen;

9:24-25

And Noah awoke from his wine;

And he realized what his lesser son had done to him;

And he said: “Canaan is curse-bound;

Uttermost servant shall he be to his brothers;”

9:26-27

And he said:
“Blessed be JEHOVAH, the God of Shem;

And may Canaan be His servant;

May God cause enlargement for Jephet,

and may he dwell among the tents of Shem;

And may Canaan be their servant.”

9:28-29

And after the Deluge Noah lived

three hundred and fifty years;

And all the days of Noah were

nine hundred and fifty years;

And he died.
