11:10-11
These are the successive generations of Shem (name):
Shem was a son of one hundred years
and he begat Arpachshad
(enlightened word according to nurturing),
two years after the Deluge;
And Shem lived, after his begetting Arpachshad,
five hundred years,
and he begat sons and daughters;
11:12-13
And Arpachshad had lived thirty five years;
and he begat Shelach (branchlet);
And Arpachshad lived, after his begetting Shelach,
four hundred and three years;
And he begat sons and daughters;
11:14-15
And Shelach had lived thirty years;
and he begat Ever (opposing side);
And Shelach lived, after his begetting Ever,
four hundred and three years;
And he begat sons and daughters;
11:16-17
And Ever lived thirty four years;
And he begat Peleg (division);
And Ever lived, after his begetting Peleg,
four hundred and thirty years;
And he begat sons and daughters;
11:18-19
And Peleg lived thirty years;
And he begat Reu (friend);
And Peleg lived, after his begetting Reu,
two hundred and nine years;
And he begat sons and daughters;
11:20-21
And Reu lived thirty two years,
And he begat Serug (interwoven);
And Reu lived, after his begetting Serug,
two hundred and seven years;
And he begat sons and daughters;
11:22-23
And Serug lived thirty years;
And he begat Nahor (indignation);
And Serug lived, after his begetting Nahor,
two hundred years,
And begat sons and daughters;
11:24-25
And Nahor lived twenty nine years;
And he begat Terah (Ibex/adept/migration);
And Nahor lived,
after his begetting Terah,
one hundred and nineteen years;
And he begat sons and daughters;
11:26-27
And Terah lived seventy years;
and he begat Avram (elevated father), Nahor (indignation), and Haran (hill);
Now these are the histories of Terah:
Terah had begotten Avram, Nahor, and Haran;
And Haran had begotten Lot (covering, veil) ;
11:28
And Haran died,
in the presence of Terah his father;
In the land of his birth,
in Ur (enlightenment) of the Chaldeans (Babylonian sages and mystics);
11:29-30
And Avram and Nahor, they took wives for themselves;
The name of the wife of Avram was Sarai (my princess),
And the name of the wife of Nahor was Milcah (counsel/princess),
the daughter of Haran the father of Milcah,
and the father of Yiscah (concealed);
And it turned out Sarai was barren;
there was no child to her;
11:31
And Terah took his son Avram,
and Lot the son of Haran, son of his son;
and Sarai his daughter-in-law,
the wife of Avram his son;
and they went forth together from Ur of the Chaldeans,
in order to proceed to the land of Canaan,
But they came as far as Charan (Hebrew —parched, scorched, burnt; and Akkadian ḫarrānum — 𒄩𒊏𒉡𒌝 road, way, path),
and there they remained;
11:32
And the days of Terah were
two hundred and five years;
And Terah died, in Charan.

New Testament (King James Version):
“ I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” John 14:6
“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:” Matthew 7:13
The whole of the Torah points to the Way of God in contrast to the way of man.
The text frequently points to opposites illustrating this (see verse 31 above).
“For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.” John 5:46
